Under head coach Gerardo Martino, Inter Miami booked their place in the quarter-finals with a 5-3 victory on aggregate against fellow MLS club Nashville SC.
While the Lionel Messi-led Inter Miami were held to a 2-2 draw in the first leg of their Round of 16 clash, the Herons secured a comprehensive 3-1 win in the second leg to claim a spot in the last eight.
Earlier, Inter Miami received a round-one bye in their first-ever Champions League appearance after clinching the 2023 edition of the Leagues Cup.
On the other hand, Mexican football club Monterrey beat FC Cincinnati 3-1 on aggregate in the Round of 16.
Led by manager Fernando Ortiz, Monterrey pipped Cincinnati 1-0 in the first leg before securing a 2-1 win in the second leg to advance to the quarter-finals.
Previously, Monterrey thrashed Guatemala side Comunicaciones 7-1 on aggregate in the first round of the ongoing CONCACAF Champions Cup.
Ahead of the crucial clash, Inter Miami have received a massive boot with the return of their captain Lionel Messi in training after recovering from a hamstring injury.
Furthemore, the likes of Facundo Farias, Federico Redondo, Ian Fray and Robbie Robinson are also ruled out of the first leg.
For Monterrey, centre-back Axel Grijalva will miss the game due to a torn lateral knee ligament.
Meanwhile, Monterrey have won the CONCACAF Champions Cup on five occasions in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2019 and 2021. They are currently the highest-ranked side across the entire CONCACAF region, placed nine spots above Inter Miami.
