The Durand Cup 2023 started on August 3 and will run till September 3.

Considered to be the oldest existing club football tournament in India and Asia, the 132nd edition of the Durand Cup will see as many as 24 teams compete in a total of 43 matches for the coveted title.

As per the Durand Cup 2023 format, the 24 participating teams have been divided into six groups of four sides each. Each team will play the other side in their group once in a round-robin format. The six group winners and the two best second-placed teams across the six groups will advance to the knockout stage.

Group A: Bangladesh Army FT, East Bengal, Mohun Bagan SG, Punjab FC

Group B: Indian Navy FT, Jamshedpur FC, Mohammedan SC, Mumbai City FC

Group C: Bengaluru FC, Gokulam Kerala FC, Indian Air Force FT, Kerala Blasters

Group D: Downtown Heroes FC, FC Goa, NorthEast United FC, Shillong Lajong

Group E: Chennaiyin FC, Delhi FC, Hyderabad FC, Tribhuwan Army

Group F: Bodoland FC, Indian Army FC, Odisha FC, Rajasthan United FC

The Durand Cup 2023 knockout stage comprises four quarter-finals, two semi-finals and the final.

Kolkata, Guwahati and Kokrajhar are the three cities that will host Durand Cup 2023 matches.

Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan (popularly known as Salt Lake Stadium), Kishore Bharati Krirangan, Mohun Bagan Ground, East Bengal Ground in Kolkata, Guwahati’s Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium and Sports Authority of India Stadium in Kokrajhar are the six venues for Durand Cup 2023.

Since the inception of Durand Cup in 1888, Mohun Bagan SG and East Bengal FC are the most successful teams in the tournament’s history with 16 titles each.

Bengaluru FC are the defending champions of the Durand Cup, having defeated Mumbai City FC 2-1 in the 2022 final.

As per the Durand Cup 2023 format, each winning team will earn three points in the group stage. A draw will see the teams share one point each. No point will be awarded in case of a defeat.
