The Copa America 2024 began on June 20 and will run till July 14 in the United States.

Organised by South America's football ruling body CONMEBOL and CONCACAF, as many as 16 men's national teams are competing for the quadrennial international football championship.

The 48th edition of the Copa América will witness 10 teams from CONMEBOL and six teams from CONCACAF competing in a total of 32 matches across 14 venues in the United States.

These participating teams have been divided into four groups of four teams each.

Group A features Argentina, Peru, Chile and Canada while the likes of Mexico, Ecuador, Venezuela and Jamaica are clubbed in Group B.

Hosts USA, Uruguay, Panama and Bolivia are placed in Group C. Group D includes Brazil, Colombia, Paraguay and Costa Rica.

As per the Copa America 2024 schedule, each team will play the other three sides in their group once in a single round-robin format.

The top two teams from each group will advance to the quarter-finals. The knockout stage also comprises semi-finals and the final. The Copa America 2024 will be played on July 14.

Argentina are the defending champions of the Copa America after beating arch-rivals Brazil 1-0 in the final of the previous edition in 2021.

Meanwhile, Argentina and Uruguay are the most successful teams in the tournament’s history with 15 titles each.

Apart from the title, all eyes will also be on the Copa America 2024 top scorers list.

Several top footballers including the likes of Lionel Messi, Vinicius Junior, Lautaro Martinez, Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez, Luis Suarez, Christian Pulisic and Julian Alvarez are expected to be in the Copa America 2024 top scorers race.

Argentina captain Lionel Messi and Colombia’s star forward Luis Díaz topped the Copa America top scorers list last edition. Both Messi and Díaz scored four goals each in 2021.

Meanwhile, Argentina’s Norberto Méndez and Brazil’s Zizinho hold the record for the most goals in Copa America history. Both Méndez and Zizinho scored 17 goals each in the competition's history.

The Copa America 2024 Golden Boot will be presented to the player with the most goals in the tournament.

If there is more than one player with the same number of goals, the tie-breaker goes to the player who has contributed the most assists. If there is still more than one player, the tie-breaker goes to the player who has played the least amount of time.
