The Bundesliga 2023-24 football season will start on Saturday, August 19, with SV Werder Bremen hosting defending champions Bayern Munich at the Weserstadion in Bremen, Germany.
As many as 18 teams will play a total of 306 matches over nine months in Germany’s premier football competition.
Bayern Munich and arch-rivals Borussia Dortmund will be the top contenders for the Bundesliga 2023-24 title. RB Leipzig and Bayer Leverkusen are also expected to battle for the top four.
Under manager Thomas Tuchel, Bayern pipped Borussia Dortmund on goal difference to clinch the 2022-23 league title. Both Bayern and Borussia finished with 71 points from 34 matches.
The Bavarians have completely dominated the Bundesliga in the last decade, having won the last 11 editions of the German top division league.
Bayern are the most successful team in the Bundesliga with 32 trophies.
Ahead of the new season, Bayern have further bolstered their star-studded squad by signing England national football team captain Harry Kane, defender Kim Min-jae, midfielder Konrad Laimer and left-back Raphael Guerreiro.
However, the likes of Sadio Mane, Lucas Hernandez, Marcel Sabitzer and Yann Sommer have departed the club.
Borussia Dortmund will kick off their Bundesliga 2023-24 campaign against 1. FC Köln at the Signal Iduna Park on August 19.
Led by head coach Edin Terzić, Dortmund will aim to clinch their sixth Bundesliga title and end Bayern’s winning streak.
Having finished third last season, RB Leipzig will begin their Bundesliga campaign with an away fixture against Bayer 04 Leverkusen at the BayArena on August 19.
FC Heidenheim and Darmstadt 98 are the two newly-promoted teams in Bundesliga this season.
VfL Wolfsburg will host 1. FC Heidenheim, while Darmstadt 98 will face Eintracht Frankfurt in their season opener.
The 61st edition of Bundesliga will conclude on May 18, 2024.
