Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich will host DFB-Pokal winner RB Leipzig in the German Super Cup 2023 final at the Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany. The Bayern Munich vs RB Leipzig German Super Cup 2023 final will start on August 13 at 12:15 AM IST.
The German Super Cup is a one-off football match played between the winners of the Bundesliga championship and the DFB-Pokal.
Under head coach Thomas Tuchel, Bayern Munich secured their place in the German Super Cup after clinching their 11th consecutive Bundesliga title and their 33rd overall last season.
Bayern pipped arch-rivals Borussia Dortmund to clinch the Bundesliga 2022-23 title. Both teams finished the Bundesliga 2022-23 standings with 71 points from 34 matches, however, Bayern bagged the title on goal difference.
On the other hand, RB Leipzig qualified for the German Super Cup 2023 after they beat Eintracht Frankfurt 2-0 in the DFB-Pokal final last season. This was RB Leipzig’s second DFB-Pokal title, having also won the previous edition in the 2021-22 season.
Ahead of the new season, Bayern have bolstered their squad by signing defender Kim Min-jae, midfielder Konrad Laimer and left-back Raphael Guerreiro. They are also on the verge of adding England national football team captain and star forward Harry Kane to their star-studded squad.
The likes of Sadio Mane, Lucas Hernandez, Marcel Sabitzer and Yann Sommer have left the club.
RB Leipzig have also undergone a significant squad overhaul ahead of the new season. They have signed Christoph Baumgartner, El Chadaille Bitshiabu, Fabio Carvalho, Lois Openda and Xavi Simons to boost their squad.
Meanwhile, Christopher Nkunku, Dominik Szoboszlai, Josko Gvardiol and Marcel Halstenberg have all departed.

Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig have played 17 games against each other since 2016. The Bavarians have won nine matches, while Leipzig have registered just two victories. As many as six matches have ended in draws.
Bayern beat Leipzig 5-3 in the German Super Cup last year.
