Defending champions Real Madrid will lock horns with fourth-tier outfit Arandina in the Round of 32 clash of the Copa del Rey 2023-24 at the Estadio El Montecillo in Aranda de Duero, Spain.
The Arandina vs Real Madrid Copa del Rey match will start at 2:00 AM Indian Standard Time (IST) on Sunday, January 7.
Real Madrid are the third most successful team in Copa del Rey history with 20 titles. Los Blancos are also the reigning champions of the annual Spanish tournament after beating Osasuna 2-1 in the 2022-23 final at the Estadio de La Cartuja in Seville, Spain.
Under the tutelage of manager Carlo Ancelotti, Real Madrid will head into the Copa del Rey encounter with a 1-0 win over Mallorca at the Santiago Bernabéu in their previous game in the La Liga 2023-24.
Star defender Antonio Rudiger netted the match-winning goal in the 78th minute of the game.
Having registered 15 wins, three draws and one defeat, Real Madrid are currently at the top of the La Liga 2023-24 standings with 48 points from 19 matches.
On the other hand, Arandina started their Copa del Rey 2023-24 campaign with a 1-0 victory against Real Murcia before they stunned La Liga club Cadiz 2-1 at home to enter the Round of 32.
While Arandina secured promotion from Tercera Federacion to Segunda Federacion last season, they have struggled in the ongoing season.
With just two wins in 16 matches, Arandina are placed at the bottom of the Group 1 standings with 10 points.
Meanwhile, the hosts will enter the clash with a 1-3 defeat at Marino de Luanco on December 17.
Real Madrid will miss the services of Thibaut Courtois, Eder Militao and David Alaba, all of whom are ruled out due to injuries.
The likes of Ferland Mendy and Eduardo Camavinga are also doubtful for the upcoming clash.
However, Nacho is back from suspension and will be available for selection.
For Arandina, there are no major injury concerns ahead of the marquee clash.
