Sweden reach UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 knockouts with win over Poland
Sweden is now through to the knockout stages of Euro 2025 after a clear 3-0 win over Poland in Lucerne. They were the better team from the start, attacking down the wings and sending in cross after cross.
Some stand-out plays were from Stina Blackstenius, who gave Sweden the lead in the first half, heading in a pass from Johanna Rytting Kaneryd. In the second half, Kosovare Asllani made it 2-0 with another header. Lina Hurtig then scored from a corner to make it three.
Sweden’s plan worked well, with all three goals coming from headers. Rytting Kaneryd, who plays for Chelsea, was a star on the right side, giving Poland’s defenders a hard time. Blackstenius was also lively, though she missed some good chances.
Poland, which was playing in their first Euros, is now out after losing both games without scoring. They only came close when Milena Kokosz hit the post in stoppage time.
