Liverpool’s unbeaten run in the Premier League carried on into the 25th gameweek, as the Reds pulled off a brilliant 2-1 win over Nuno Espirito Santo’s Wolverhampton Wanderers. The visitors were helped with another commanding performance by captain Jordan Henderson, who scored the first and assisted the second to get Liverpool over the line in a tricky fixture against the side that were the last to beat them in a domestic competition.

Despite Henderson’s heroics, it was youngster Trent Alexander-Arnold who stole the headlines, as he became the first defender in the history of the English Premier League to register ten plus assists in two consecutive seasons. The 21-year-old delivered the corner for the first goal in the game against Wolves, putting in a near perfect cross which was headed home by Henderson.

The youngster now has 22 assists since the start of last season in all competitions, which is one more than Barcelona’s legendary Lionel Messi. The full-back also has the second most assists in the English Premier League with 11, four behind Manchester City Belgian playmaker Kevin De Bruyne.

Alexander-Arnold has got assists against Manchester United, Arsenal, Aston Villa, Everton, Leicester City to name a few. Apart from his assists, he also has two goals for the Reds, which came in wins against Leicester City and Chelsea.

Celebrating the youngster’s historic feat in the Premier League, many fans tweeted out congratulatory messages for Alexander-Arnold on Twitter. “Trent Alexander-Arnold and assisting from corners. Name a better combo,” read one tweet while another fan said “10 assists in the Premier League now for Alexander-Arnold, 23 games. He's a right back averaging nearly an assist in every other game.”

Liverpool still have 15 games to go in the Premier League, and by the end of those games, the youngster could add many more assists to his name. The Reds play their next Premier League game against struggling West Ham United away from home.
