The Indian Super League is in full swing with players now coming to the fore and scoring goals on the go. A unique feat was achieved in the sixth gameweek of the tournament when all the five matches played during that tenure ended in a draw with no clear winner emerged from the ties.

However, in lieu of this unique gameweek, some individual performances were top notch and caught the attention of fans. A thriller between ATK and Mumbai City was only topped by a scintillating equalizer by Odisha FC in their encounter against Chennaiyin FC, which could have easily gone either way.

To get a clearer picture, let’s look at the top three performances from this week of the ISL that left a bright smile on our faces:

Nerijus Valskis

Club: Chennaiyin FC

Against: Odisha FC

Despite all the drama that ensued after the final whistle between Chennaiyin’s skipper Lucian Goian and Odisha’s Diawandou Diagne, the showstopper proved to be Chennai’s number nine, Nerijus Valskis.

His double goal onslaught ensured that Chennai walked away with a point, although it wasn’t enough to lift them from the bottom half of the table. However, his first goal was due to an error on the part of Odisha’s lousy defence but the subsequent one was a header taken with precision.

Valskis was up and running in the second half with his alertness on the pitch clearly visible with his work rate significantly improving in the second half.

Sergio Cidoncha

Club: Kerala Blasters

Against: Goa FC

This season’s fastest goal scorer so far, Sergio Cidoncha took the heavyweights by surprise when he opened his team’s scoring by netting a scintillating goal in the second minute of the game. For much of the game, Sergio was on the lookout for an assist to his forwards, Bartholomew Ogbeche and Raphaël Messi Bouli and was pivotal in dictating the tempo of the game from the midfield.

With a subliminal finish early in the game, Sergio was constantly marked by the opponents but was able to make crucial passes to ease the woes of Kerala’s midfield. The Spaniard has a goal and an assist to his name in this season but given his impeccable performance lately, the confidence will be soaring in the next encounter.

Farukh Choudhary

Club: Jamshedpur FC

Against: NorthEast United FC

Jamshedpur played out a disappointing draw at home against NorthEast United but what stood out was Farukh Choudhary’s assist to extend Sergio Castel’s goal scoring tally in the current edition of the ISL. Jamshedpur’s number 17 was a blistering phenomenon on the pitch and was undoubtedly his team’s most prolific player on the day.

What played out in favour of the 23-year-old was his quick feet and desire to deliver the ball at the opportune moment to Castel. We hope that the vision only improves over time.
