The action in the business end of Premier League 2023-24 is starting to intensify with Manchester City and Arsenal going toe to toe, while Liverpool have an outside shot of winning the title after stumbling once again this past weekend following a 2-2 draw with West Ham United.

Liverpool’s latest slip up means that the 2023-24 Premier League race is now effectively a two-horse race between Arsenal and defending champions Manchester City.

While Pep Guardiola’s Man City are aiming for an unprecedented fourth successive Premier League title, Mikel Arteta’s Gunners are looking to end a 20-year-old league title drought.

Arsenal pushed Man City all the way in last season’s title race before coming undone in the final hurdles as the Citizens claimed their third consecutive league triumph.

The Gunners are currently at the summit of the league table with 80 points from 35 games. They lead Man City by a point having played a game more. City currently have 79 points from 34 matches.

Should City claim maximum points from their game in hand, they would go above Arsenal to top spot in the standings.

However, the title is still very much in the grasp of the Gunners and here we have a look at the chances of Arsenal winning the league

Will Arsenal win the Premier League

Arsenal currently have three games left to play this season. Two of these matches are at home while one is away.

The two teams that the Gunners will face at home are Bournemouth and Everton, while a difficult away fixture against Manchester United at Old Trafford also awaits.

At this moment, all Arsenal can do is win their remaining three games and hope that City slip up in one of their four games that they are yet to play.

City’s fixtures are against Wolves, Fulham, and West Ham United at home, while they also travel to north London to face Tottenham Hotspur.

Needless to say, if City win all these games, they’ll win the Premier League title with 91 points, two more than the maximum points of 89 that Arsenal can reach this season.

If City draw one and win three of their four remaining matches while Arsenal win all their three games then goal difference will decide the winner of the league.

Based on the current Premier League table, Arsenal would win the league on goal difference which is +57 as opposed to City’s +50.

In essence, Arsenal do have a good chance of winning the league but need City to slip up at least once while they continue to win all their remaining games.Even a draw for City will be celebrated by Arsenal fans as it would mean that goal difference comes into play and they have an edge over the defending league champions in that regard.

However, Arsenal fans will also be wary that City can simply go on and win their remaining games, which would mean that the Gunners would have no say on where the title goes even if they win their three remaining games.

Interestingly, these two team’s local rivals Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United could still have a say on who wins the title.

City’s penultimate game is against Tottenham Hotspur away from home, while Arsenal play Manchester United away in the same gameweek.

Both teams could drop points in this fixture and from Arsenal’s point of view, they’ll hope that their crosstown rivals Spurs can take some points off City while the Gunners themselves must win a tough away match against United at Old Trafford.

With three weeks still to go in the Premier League there’s certain to be more twists and turns as the action heats up.

However, one thing that’s for sure is that this title race will go down to the wire with Arsenal and City pushing each other all the way till the final whistle on the final day of the campaign.
