The FA Cup 2022-23 semi-finals are slated to take place this weekend with Manchester City taking on Sheffield United and Manchester United facing Brighton & Hove Albion.

Manchester City will square off against Sheffield United on Saturday, while Manchester United take on Brighton on Sunday.

The Citizens will head into their semi-final clash against Sheffield as firm favourites. Unbeaten in their last 15 games, City is in scintillating form and will be brimming with confidence having beaten Bayern Munich 4-1 on aggregate in the quarter-finals.

On course for a historic treble, City will be eager to get the better of Sheffield and secure a final spot in their bid to win the FA Cup, Premier League, and UEFA Champions League.

Sheffield United, on the other hand, is also in a rich vein of form and is currently second in the Championship table, putting them on course for automatic promotion to the Premier League next season.

They’ve won six of their last seven matches and will be hoping to pull off a huge upset against a formidable City side.

Meanwhile, Manchester United will be hoping to bounce back from their UEFA Europa League exit in midweek by overcoming a high-flying Brighton side who will fancy their chances of knocking out the Red Devils.

Currently seventh in the Premier League and chasing a spot in European football next season, Brighton is one of the in-form teams in world football at the moment and have played some breathtaking football this season.

While it may seem like the Red Devils are favourites to win this tie on paper, the Seagulls will know that they are very capable of knocking out the English heavyweights of the FA Cup, which would mean that United would be knocked out of two Cup competitions in four days.

Needless to say, Manchester United won’t want that to happen. The Red Devils have already lost to Brighton once this season and will be desperate to beat the Seagulls in their bid to reach the final.

With both first-choice center-backs now injured for United, they will have to rely on Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof to keep things tight at the back, while the return of Marcus Rashford from injury is likely to come as a welcome boost for them in the attack.

Both the semi-finals will take place at England’s iconic Wembley Stadium as we prepare to know the finalists of this season’s FA Cup.
