Cristiano Ronaldo spent his first day back at Manchester United’s Carrington training complex on Tuesday, September 7, and is in the line to make his second debut for the club against Newcastle United on Saturday.

It was the first time in 12 years that Ronaldo returned to Carrington since leaving the club for Real Madrid in 2009 for a then world-record £80m transfer fee.

Manchester United’s number 7, Ronaldo first met with his new manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer before training with the players who are not away on international duty.

After signing from Juventus on a two-year contract, Ronaldo arrived in Manchester a bit earlier than expected after he was released by Portugal following a suspension due to yellow card accumulation. Upon arriving in Manchester, Ronaldo spent five days in quarantine before joining his new teammates for training on Tuesday.

When will Cristiano Ronaldo make his Manchester United debut?

If everything goes right, fans are likely to see Ronaldo in action in Manchester United’s next Premier League game against Newcastle United on Saturday, September 11 at Old Trafford.

In case Solskjaer decides against it, Ronaldo can make his full debut in United’s UEFA Champions League opener against Young Boys on Tuesday, September 14. However, in a statement released by the club, Manchester United said that they are hoping that the striker can have ‘an immediate impact’.

"With challenges to come at home and abroad in the near future, including Saturday's Premier League match against Newcastle and next Tuesday's start of the Champions League at Young Boys, it is hoped the striker will be ready to assist the side and begin to have an immediate impact in his second spell at the club," the statement read.

"With the rest of our international contingent due to return to Carrington in the coming days, the countdown is beginning in earnest to Saturday's kick-off with the Magpies."

When and where to watch Cristiano Ronaldo’s Manchester United debut in India?

If Ronaldo is included in the matchday squad for the Newcastle game, fans can expect him to play a role against the Magpies on Saturday, September 11. The live telecast of that match will be available on the Star Sports network (Star Sports Select) from 7:30 pm IST.
