Chelsea will look to make it two wins in a row when they take on Charlotte FC in their second pre-season friendly at the Bank of America Stadium in North Carolina during the early hours of Thursday, July 21. The match will kick off at 5:00 AM IST.
Fresh off from a narrow 2-1 win over Club America, Thomas Tuchel’s side will have two new additions to the team; Raheem Sterling and Kalidou Koulibaly. The two high-profile signings will look to make a positive start for their new club against Charlotte FC.
Meanwhile, Tuchel also has a number of young players waiting in line for their chance. The likes of Conor Gallagher and Ethan Ampadu, having just returned from their successful loan tenure, will want to get much-needed playing time on Thursday.
It’s important to note that Chelsea are missing N'Golo Kante and Ruben Loftus-Cheek on tour as the duo missed the trip due to their COVID-19 vaccination status.
Meanwhile, Tuchel is expected to make plenty of changes to his team that played Club America last time out. This potentially means Mason Mount, Reece James, Jorginho and Edouard Mendy could make it to the starting XI.
Furthermore, if Koulibaly starts, one can expect him to line up alongside Trevoh Chalobah and Thiago Silva in a back three.
