Meanwhile, central defenders Antonio Rüdiger and Andreas Christensen are the high-profile departures from the club, with the pair joining La Liga giants Real Madrid and Barcelona for free.

Romelu Lukaku returned to former club Inter Milan for a season-long loan while midfielder Saúl Ñíguez returned to Atletico Madrid following the end of his loan spell at Stamford Bridge.

Danny Drinkwater, who joined Chelsea from Leicester City in 2017, has left the club after spending four seasons out on loan between 2019-20 and 2021-22.

Sterling, who arrived at Chelsea after seven seasons with champions Manchester City, is likely to make his debut against Club America on Sunday, July 17.

The notable absentees from the tour include Ruben Loftus-Cheek and N'Golo Kante.
