The Intel Extreme Masters (IEM) Chengdu 2024 will start on April 8 and conclude on April 14 in Chengdu, China.
Organised by ESL and VSPO, as many as 16 Counter-Strike 2 teams compete in the IEM Chengdu 2024. The upcoming tournament marks a return of ESL to China after five years.
The IEM Chengdu 2024 will be held offline at the Wuliangye Chengdu Performing Arts Centre in Chengdu.
IEM Chengdu 2024 format
The IEM Chengdu 2024 will be staged in two phases - the Group Stage and the Playoffs.
The Group Stage will be held in two double-elimination format (GSL) groups.
These participating teams will be divided into two groups of eight teams each. The opening matches in both groups will be in best-of-ones while the remaining matches will be in a best-of-three series.
The top three teams from each group will advance to the Playoffs where the placement will determine the seeding.
Group stage winners will progress directly to the semi-finals while the second and third-placed teams will advance to the quarter-finals as the high and low seeds respectively.
The IEM Chengdu 2024 Playoffs will be in a single-elimination bracket with all matches to be played in a best-of-three series.

IEM Chengdu 2024 prize pool
The IEM Chengdu 2024 has a total prize pool of USD 250,000.
The winner of the Counter-Strike 2 tournament will receive a cash prize of USD 100,000.
Furthermore, the IEM Chengdu 2024 champion will qualify for the Intel Extreme Masters Cologne 2024 to be held in Cologne in August.
Meanwhile, the second-placed team will get USD 42,000 while the third and fourth-placed teams will bag USD 20,000 each.
