One of the most highly-anticipated events for esports fans, Battlegrounds Mobile India Series (BGIS) 2023 officially launched on Thursday, July 20 with a scrimmage session for invited teams known as The Grind.

Organised by KRAFTON, Inc., the BGIS video game tournament is set to run from July 20 to October 14 and it will comprise two main stages: the online qualifiers and the offline grand finale.

The first phase of BGIS 2023 known as The Grind is currently underway, featuring 256 teams competing for spots in the top 64 of this tournament.

BGIS 2023 The Grind is basically a scrimmage session for invited Tier 1 and underdog teams from Season 1 of the tournament prior to the main event of the 2023 edition.

Registration for the tournament will take place from July 24 to August 2 and will be followed by the verification of registration from August 3-9.

After the verification process is completed, the in-game qualifiers are scheduled to take place from August 10-17 and it will be followed by the Round 1 to Round 6 clashes from August 31 to October 7.

BGIS 2023 will culminate with its grand finale featuring the top teams that have qualified for the tournament’s climax in a LAN event from October 12-14.

Considered one of the largest Battle Royale Esports tournaments in India, BGIS 2023 has a prize pool of a whopping INR 2 crore.

Format for BGIS 2023 The Grind   

The 256 competing in the BGIS Grind will be divided into two groups of 128 teams each. The first week will feature the first 128 teams competing against each other and 64 teams will qualify for the third week of The Grind scrimmage session.

The second week will witness the second batch of 128 teams competing for the remaining 64 available qualifying spots in the fourth week. 

Week 3 will see the first 64 qualified teams from The Grind competing for 32 spots in week 5. Similarly, week 4 will have the second 64 qualified teams from week 2 competing for the remaining 32 spots in week 5.

The fifth week includes the final 64 teams competing for a chance to progress to the grand stage of BGIS 2023.
