A day after he scored a well calculated century to help his side beat South Africa and continue their winning run at the 2019 ICC World Cup, New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson had more reasons to celebrate as he, along with former Indian international Yuvraj Singh, were picked up as marquee players for the second season of the Global T20 League, Canada.

Edmonton Royals picked Williamson while Yuvraj was the choice for Toronto Nationals at the marquee draft on Thursday.

While the Kiwis players have been allowed to seek opportunities in the various T20 Leagues across the globe, Yuvraj had written to the BCCI seeking permission to ply his trade in foreign T20 leagues.

The second season of the Global T20 Canada will be held in Brampton from July 25 to August 11. The league will also see a sixth team added to the mix this time, replacing the West Indies ‘B’ side that participated in last year's competition and finished runners-up.

The Global T20 League organizers had previously announced over Twitter that the sixth team would be called the ‘New York Legends’. However, that plan has since been scrapped with the identity of the city and nickname yet to be decided.
