Following the conclusion of an exciting T20I series between the teams which the tourists won 2-1, West Indies (WI) now take on New Zealand (NZ) in the first ODI of a three-match series on Wednesday, August 17 at Kensington Oval Barbados. The match will start at 11:30 PM IST.

WI VS NZ Dream11 prediction

West Indies’ form in the 50-over format hasn’t been promising of late. The Men in Maroon have played Ireland, India twice, Netherlands, Pakistan and Bangladesh in the ODI format in 2022. Of the six ODI series they have played this year, the Windies have won just one, which was against the Netherlands.

Given their current run of form in the format, it’s safe to say that New Zealand have high chances of coming out victorious on Wednesday.

WI vs NZ Dream11 team tips for 1st ODI

Top tip: Best batter

New Zealand’s middle-order batter Glenn Philipps was at his brutal best against West Indies during the T20I series. The 25-year-old ended the series as the highest run-getter with 134 runs at an impressive average of 44.66. He is our top batting pick as he costs a mere 8 credits.

Top tip: Best bowler

Selected by 81.31 per cent of fantasy players, West Indies pacer Alzarri Joseph is the most picked bowler for this contest. Although the 25-year-old was not very involved in the T20I series, his recent numbers in the 50-over format - five wickets in his last three matches - coupled with his overall record in the format makes him a smart pick.

Top tip: Best all-rounder and wicket-keeper

Experienced all-rounder Michael Bracewell will once again be in the spotlight after having a near-perfect outing in the T20I series. The 31-year-old picked three wickets in two games as he finished with an economy of just 4.83. Coming down the order, Bracewell has the ability to score quickfire runs, something which will come in handy for fantasy players as well.

Finally, for the wicket-keeper spot, West Indies’ Shai Hope, who costs 9.5 credits, should be given priority mostly because he opens the batting for his team. More time at the crease means he might end up scoring more runs than his competitors. Furthermore, he’s been a solid player for West Indies over the years in the ODI format and is likely to have a positive outcome on the contest.
