Australia will look to bounce back from their disappointing T20I series loss to India when they take on West Indies in two T20Is ahead of the T20 World Cup 2022.

The Aussies will finally get to test their squad strength on their home turf. Interestingly, this will be their first T20I series at home since February earlier this year, when they defeated Sri Lanka by 4-1.

The hosts are bolstered by the return of David Warner, Mitchell Marsh and Mitchell Starc, who missed the recently concluded series against India. However, the absence of Marcus Stonis will have an impact on their preparations for the upcoming T20 World Cup.

All eyes will be on rising stars Cameron Green and Tim David, with the former expected to replace Marcus Stoinis if the 33-year-old does not recover in time.

As far as the West Indies camp is concerned, there’s plenty to ponder upon for them. Their star batter Shimron Hetmyer got ruled out of the upcoming mega event after missing his rescheduled flight to Australia.

Moreover, the continued absence of Sunil Narine and the axing of power hitter Andre Russell from the T20 World Cup squad has raised several eyebrows.

Nonetheless, the majority of their squad is coming on the back of a fine CPL 2022 season and have enough game time under their belt to keep the momentum going in the shortest format of the game.

Having lost three of their previous four T20I bilateral series, it is all the more important for the Windies to get their combinations right in this one, before playing the qualifiers to book a spot in the Super 12s of the T20 World Cup.

Intriguingly, the visitors have beaten Australia just once in more than two decades across all formats. That victory came in the T20I format itself when they won by 27 runs in the only T20I of the West Indies Tour of Australia in 2013.

Hence, history strongly favors the home side to emerge victorious in this series as well.
