The Vizag Cricket Stadium, also known as the Dr. Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy International Cricket Stadium, is a multipurpose stadium in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.

Established in 2003, it has a capacity of 27,000 and hosted its first international match in 2005 when India faced Pakistan.

There have been a total of nine competed ODI matches at this stadium with India emerging triumphant seven times. West Indies are the only other team to win a 50-over match at this ground. The Windies have also been involved in a tie against the Men in Blue at this venue. 

This stadium is home to the Andhra cricket team in the domestic circuit and has also hosted home matches for Team Deccan and Team Hyderabad in the Indian T20 League.

Most wickets

Indian spinner Kuldeep Yadav is the bowler with the most wickets (9) at the Vizag Cricket Stadium. His nine wickets on this ground have come at an average of 17.88 and an economy of 5:36.

Highest individual score

Rohit Sharma’s 159 for India is the highest score by a batter in an ODI at this venue. He hit 17 fours and five maximums during the course of his innings against West Indies in December 2019 as India posted a mammoth score of 387/5 en route to a 107-run win.

Best bowling figures

India’s Amit Mishra has the record for the best bowling figures in an ODI at this venue. His 5/18 against New Zealand in October 2016 helped India bundle out the Kiwis for just 79 and condemned them to a 190-run defeat.

Highest team total

The highest ODI team total recorded at this venue was by India against West Indies in December 2019. Powered by Virat Kohli’s 159, the Men in Blue posted 387/5 and went on to register a 107-run win.

Lowest team total

New Zealand hold the unenviable record for scoring the lowest team total at this venue. While chasing a target of 270 to win, the Kiwis managed to score just 79 against India in October 2016 as the Men in Blue romped to a 190-run win.

Highest partnership

In the same match where Rohit Sharma made the highest individual score at this ground as India posted 387/5 against West Indies, the Hitman, and KL Rahul combined for a 227-run opening stand. It is the highest partnership at this venue in ODIs and helped India get a big win.
