Located in the city of Centurion in South Africa, the SuperSport Park is also known as Centurion Park. The stadium got its current name after television company SuperSport bought shares in the stadium. The stadium can accommodate around 22,000 people  

This venue has hosted several matches over the years across all formats and is home to the Titans in domestic cricket and Pretoria Capitals in the SA20 League. 

Here’s a detailed look at T20 records at SuperSport Park.

SuperSport Park T20 records

Most runs 

South African all-rounder Albie Morkel has the most runs at the SuperSport Park with 895 runs in 48 T20s, which came between 2004 and 2018. He represented T20 franchises like Chennai in the Indian T20 League, Durban Heat, Titans, and also the South Africa national team. Before his retirement in 2019, Morkel had an average of 47.10, scored five fifties, and had a high score of 71* at this ground. 

At the T20I level, Rassie van der Dussen has scored 202 runs in five matches, with the highest score of 64.

Most wickets

Albie Morkel proved himself with the ball too at this stadium, with 47 wickets in 46 innings. His personal best was a 3/12, with an overall economy of 7.63 at the ground. 

In T20Is, Chris Morris bagged seven wickets in four games for South Africa. 

Lowest team total 

Tshwane Titans recorded the lowest total of 35/3 against Nelson Mandela Bay Giants in November 2018. The Giants brought up a total of 143 runs in 20 overs, but the game was reduced to 5.1 overs going by the D/L method. After being recalculated, the Giants’ total was reduced to 43 runs. The Titans eventually fell seven runs short after the D/L method.

In T20Is, South Africa managed to post an insufficient 100 against Pakistan in March 2013 in 12.2 overs.

Highest team total 

South Africa scored the highest at the ground after posting 241/6 in 20 overs against England on November 15, 2009, at SuperSport Park. The visitors could only bring up 157/8 as they tried to chase 242 to win. 

Highest individual score

Pakistan’s Babar Azam brought up the highest score in T20s at the ground with 122 off 59 balls against the Proteas, when the countries squared off in April 2021. Babar hit 15 fours and four sixes, with a strike rate of 206.77 to help his team overcome the 203/5 set by South Africa. In franchise cricket, Manish Pandey made 114 off 73 balls for the Indian T20 League team Bangalore in 2009. It is the highest score at the venue by a player from any franchise.

Best bowling figures

Pakistan’s Umar Gul tops the list for best bowling figures courtesy his effort of 5/6 in 2.2 overs in March 2013. His economy in that game was 2.57. Gul sent three batters back to the pavilion for ducks, helping Pakistan beat South Africa by 95 runs.

Other bowlers with five-wicket hauls at the ground include – Zimbabwe’s Elton Chigurumba, Warriors’ Andrew Birch, Titans’ David Wiese, and Auckland’s Azhar Mahmood.  

Highest partnership

While Babar Azam notched up 122 runs off 59 against South Africa, he got support from fellow opener Mohammad Rizwan at the other end, who scored 73 off 47 balls. Their partnership of 197 off 106 balls helped beat South Africa by nine wickets and 12 balls remaining.
