The Sri Lankan selectors earlier on Thursday announced their T20 squad for the series against Sri Lanka, which sees pacer Suranga Lakmal make a comeback after almost a year. 

Sadeera Samarawickrama, Jeffrey Vandersay and Asitha Fernando are among the other additions to the squad while Dasun Shanaka misses out. The series against South Africa will be the maiden call-up for leg-spinner Vandersay.

Lasith Malinga continues to lead the side for the T20 series, with former captain Dinesh Chandimal overlooked for this series as well. Sri Lanka are currently trailing the ODI series against the Proteas 4-0, with the final game scheduled for the 16th of March. 

The T20 series is set to begin on the 19th of March, with the second and third game on 22nd and 24th of March respectively.
