Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hasan has confirmed that all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan will be cleared to play in the Indian T20 League if only he is declared fit by the medical staff.

Shakib, who captains Bangladesh in Tests and T20Is, has been struggling with injuries of late and missed his side's first Test against New Zealand in Hamilton owing to a finger injury he sustained during the Bangladesh Premier League.

As of now, he remains a massive doubt for remaining two Tests, but Hasan has confirmed that the all-rounder will be awarded the No Objection Certificate if he receives the green signal from the doctors.

"If he is not fully OK then how will he play the Indian T20 League? It can't be that he is only unfit for our national team but fit for the tournament. If he is fully OK and the doctors concur only then he will be able To play in the competition,” Hasan said.

"We want him to play in both Indian T20 League and for the national team so the whole thing depends on his health. If he has a problem then we want him to recover fully before returning to cricket. We don't want to take any risks with Him."

Hasan also mentioned that Shakib has had tests on his injured finger and doctors have advised him seven days of rest, which would automatically rule him out of the second Test.

"I don't think it's absolutely necessary for him to play the third Test because the World Cup is coming up," added Hasan.

"Shakib said that he would go to play the third Test. Before I left for an ICC board meeting in Dubai, he said that he was eager to play in this league [DPL T20] to get some match practice before leaving. I thought that If he can play in this league then he could play the second Test. But if not, his health is important."

The second Test kicks off from 8th of March in Wellington.
