Senwes Park, also known as North West Cricket Stadium, is located in Potchefstroom, South Africa. Senwes Park has hosted One-Day International (ODI) matches since 2000 and can hold around 18,000 spectators. It was used as a venue for the 2003 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup.
The first ODI match at Senwes Park was played between South Africa and New Zealand on October 20, 2000. A classy century by Nicky Boje put South Africa on track for a good score. However, rain played spoilsport and the match was called off after the 38th over with South Africa poised at 191/2.

Dutch batter Ryan ten Doeschate is the highest run-scorer at Senwes Park. The right-handed Netherlands batter played four innings at the venue and scored 287 runs at an average of 95.66 and a strike rate of 101.05.
Doeschate’s best at Senwes Park was 106 not out against Kenya in 2009. The knock helped the Netherlands chase down 247 with seven wickets in hand.
Most wickets
Netherlands seamer Edgar Schiferli, with nine wickets from four ODI matches at Senwes Park, is the highest wicket-taker on the ground. He picked up his wickets at an average of 19.11 and an economy of 4.64 runs per over.
Schiferli’s best performance at Senwes Park came against Kenya in 2009 when he returned with the figures of 4/23 from his 10 overs. His performance helped the Netherlands bundle out Kenya on 179. The Netherlands won the match by six wickets.
Highest individual score
South African opener Herschelle Gibbs hit 153 off 131 balls to help Proteas put on 301/8 in their 50 overs against Bangladesh in a 2002 series. Gibbs struck 17 fours and three sixes in his innings. South Africa won the match by 168 runs.
Best bowling figures
Minnows Namibia faced the wrath of an on-song Glenn McGrath in a 2003 ICC World Cup match at Senwes Park. After putting on 301/6 in 50 overs, the Australian bowling attack led by McGrath had Namibia on the ropes and bundled them out for 45 in 14 overs. Mcgrath returned with career-best ODI figures of 7/15 in seven overs.
Highest team total
South Africa is the only team to score more than 400 runs in an inning at Senwes Park. During the third ODI match against Zimbabwe in a 2006 bilateral series, South Africa scored 418/5 batting first and restricted Zimbabwe to 247/4 in 50 overs. Wicket-keeper batter Mark Boucher amassed an unbeaten 147 from just 68 balls at a strike rate of over 200.
Lowest team total
Namibia could not handle the heat of the Australian bowling line-up consisting of Glenn McGrath, Brett Lee, and Andy Bichel at the 2003 ICC World Cup match. The African team was bowled out for just 45 in 14 overs and lost the game by 256 runs.
Highest partnership
Netherlands’ Ryan ten Doeschate and Bas Zuiderent hold the record for the highest partnership in an ODI on this ground. The Dutch duo put on an unbeaten 186 together against Kenya in a World Cup qualifier match at the venue in 2009. Ten Doeschate made his unbeaten 106 while Bas Zuiderent scored 64 not out as Netherlands registered a convincing seven-wicket win over Kenya.
