Okay. The Sixers blow up a chance to go on top of the table. The Hurricanes would be happy to earn a win on their very first outing. That ends the action from this game. But do not go anywhere. The second match of the Friday double-header is on our heels where the big striking Chris Lynn meets the Big Show, Glenn Maxwell. Action from the Carrara Oval begins at 6.10 pm local (0810 GMT).

Earlier, the Sixers seemed happy to have 'restricted' the hosts to 129. D'Arcy Short seemed to be the only man standing and his quickfire 51 from 40 was the main difference between the two sides.

Qais Ahmad was the talk of the town with his 4/12 in 4 overs but in reality his triple-wicket over was the one which broke the back of the Sixers. But do not underestimate the supporting role of Riley Meredith who picked just one wicket but conceded only 10 runs in his 4 overs. Once Qais broke the middle order of the 6ers, the rest of the bowlers just kept piling the pressure on and eventually, Jordan Silk could not find partners to farm strike. In the end, he was dismissed in the 19th over, which only succeeded in delaying the inevitable.

Okay. So what happened there? One team collapsed with figures of 6/23 in 24 balls while the other lost 7/13 in 21 deliveries. Now, we can understand how important was Short's knock for the Hurricanes. Had he been dismissed early, we might have even had a tie. It was a terrific bowling display by both sides on a track which was sluggish.

QAIS AHMAD HAS BEEN NAMED THE MAN OF THE MATCH. Says that he was only looking to bowl in the right areas and with the wicket aiding so much turn, it definitely helped him. On his celebrating somersault, Qais smiles and says that George Bailey encouraged him to go for the flip if he takes the wicket and he did so. D'Arcy Short is alongside him. The opener says that Qais is a very special player and is very energetic on the field, which is very useful for the entire team.

W 18.5
James Faulkner to Benjamin Manenti

OUT! Caught! That ends the game! A length ball outside off, Manenti looks to swing hard but gets a top edge. The ball goes only as far as short third man where Simon Milenko takes a dolly. HOBART HURRICANES WIN BY 25 RUNS!

James Faulkner to Benjamin Manenti

Wide yorker outside off, Manenti looks to squeeze it towards the off side but misses.

James Faulkner to Lloyd Pope

Defended off the front foot by the batsman presenting the full face of the bat. One run added to the total.

James Faulkner to Benjamin Manenti

Around off, heaved down to long on for a single.

Lloyd Pope is the last man in. 11 balls remaining. Can the Sixers at least stay till the end and try and bat out the 20 overs?
