Rain was once again the winner at the ongoing 2019 ICC World Cup as another match of the competition, this time involving India and New Zealand, was washed out without a ball being bowled.

This was the third time in a week that we didn’t see any cricket action as incessant rains in the UK chose to play spoilsport. The Thursday’s washout means the 2019 edition of the competition has seen the maximum of wash in a single edition of the competition.

Though this resulted in the ICC receiving a lot of flak, first for choosing to host the competition in the England and then choosing not to have a reserve day in case a situation was to arise. The ICC on its part though came did provide a reason of such a decision. “Factoring in a reserve day for every match at the World Cup would significantly increase the length of the tournament and practically would be extremely complex to deliver,” ICC’s outgoing Chief Executive Dave Richardson said in a statement.

But this barely stopped the frustrated fans to take to social media platforms to express their disappointment.
