Nepal to start Women’s Asia Cup 2024 against UAE on July 19: Where to watch, full schedule and squad

The Nepal Women’s cricket team will kick-start their Women’s Asia Cup T20 2024 campaign against United Arab Emirates Women at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium in Dambulla on July 19. 

The tournament opener is scheduled to start at 2:00 PM (IST) on Friday.

Nepal are placed in Group A of the Women’s Asia Cup 2024 alongside defending champions India, Pakistan and UAE. The tournament will feature eight teams split into two groups of four teams each.

Nepal Women will play against Pakistan Women in their second game on July 21 before meeting reigning champions India in their last group game on July 23. 

The Women’s Asia Cup 2024 will have a total of 15 T20 matches with each team playing the other three members of their group once in a single round-robin format. Host Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Malaysia and Thailand are the teams in Group B.

The top two teams from each group will proceed to play the semi-finals on July 26 with the final being slated for July 28. All matches of the tournament will be played at the same venue in Dambulla. 

Led by Indu Barman, the 15-member Nepal Women’s cricket team arrived in Sri Lanka early and played three practice matches against the Sri Lanka Development Squad as part of their preparations in the run-up to the continental showpiece.

Nepal Women are currently ranked 21st in the International Cricket Council’s Women T20I ranking. 

They are featuring in the Women’s Asia Cup after a gap of eight years since they last played in the 2016 edition of the tournament in Bangkok.

Nepal was last seen in action during the Asian Cricket Council’s Women’s Premier Cup in February 2024. Nepal Women had lost to Malaysia Women by four wickets in the semi-finals of the competition.
