West Indies women to host South Africa for limited-overs series in late August

West Indies women will host South Africa women in a limited-overs tour consisting of three T20Is and five ODIs later this month. The tour begins on August 31 and will go on till September 19. 

The Proteas have declared an 18-member squad with Dane van Niekerk as the captain. The campaign kicks off with the T20I series starting on August 31 and ends on September 4. The ODI series will run between September 7 to September 19.

The series will form an important part of the preparations for the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifiers that will help West Indies secure a spot in the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup next year in New Zealand. 

South Africa have already qualified for the World Cup and the limited-overs series would give them the much-needed match practise as well as test their bench strength. 

West Indies women are riding high on confidence after demolishing Pakistan 3-0 in the T20I series and followed it by wrapping up the ODI series 3-2 last month.

As for South Africa women, they welcome their captain Dane van Niekerk, who is making a return after injuries kept her out of the Pakistan and India assignments earlier this year. She bounced back in action with the newest format of the 100-ball League in July where she captained Oval London.
