The first of the three One Day Internationals (ODI) between West Indies and Bangladesh held at the Providence Stadium in Guyana ended in the visitors’ favour. Bangladesh won the game, reduced to 41 overs a side due to rain, by six wickets.

The hosts will look to draw level and avoid handing Bangladesh an unassailable lead in three three-match series. This match will also be held at the Providence Stadium, Guyana, and is scheduled to be held on July 13, Wednesday, at 7 PM (Indian Standard Time).

West Indies vs Bangladesh recent form

Led by Tamim Iqbal, the spirited Bangladesh have managed to keep the Windies quiet in their own backyard with a six-wicket win in what was a low-scoring game.

Batting first, West Indies scored 149/9 in the reduced 41 overs. Mehidy Hasan’s three-wicket haul and Shoriful Islam’s four-wicket haul helped Bangladesh restrict the Windies to a modest total.

The visitors paced the chase well, and despite losing four wickets in the process, they were never in any real danger. The captain’s 33 (25) set the platform for the chase. It was followed by handy contributions from Najmul Hossain Shanto (37) and Mahmudullah (41), which helped the team win the game.

West Indies are not on their best streak in terms of their ODI runs. They lost their last four games. Bangladesh, on the other hand, are coming off of a win and won their latest ODI series 2-1 against South Africa.
