The West Africa T20 Trophy 2023 is all set to get underway on Wednesday, October 4, and will culminate on Sunday, October 15.
An exciting T20 tournament featuring four African teams, Nigeria and Rwanda will square off in the opening match of the tournament.
Sierra Leone and Ghana are the other two countries taking part in the West Africa T20 Trophy 2023 and they will be in action in the second match on the opening day of the tournament.
A total of 20 matches will be played over the course of this tournament with two matches scheduled per day and the final slated to be played on Sunday, October 15.
As per the format of this T20 tournament, all four sides will square off against each other thrice in a triple round-robin format in the league stage.
The top two sides in the standings at the end of the league stage will clash in the West Africa T20 Trophy 2023 final, while the third and fourth-placed teams will square off in the third-place playoff.
On paper, hosts Nigeria are favourites to win the tournament as they are the highest-ranked side in the ICC T20 men’s team rankings.
Nigeria is ranked 42 in the ICC T20 men’s team rankings, while Sierra Leone, Ghana, and Rwanda are ranked 59, 61, and 62 respectively.
All matches in the West Africa T20 Trophy 2023 will be held at the Tafawa Balewa Square Cricket Oval in Lagos, Nigeria.
