NZ were crowned as the Champions of the Virtual Five5 Cricket World Cup 2020 tournament after beating AUS by nine wickets in the all-important final.

Here we take a look at the events that transpired on the day of the knockouts.

NZ v IND, Semi-final 1: NZ win by five runs

IND opted to field and began in the best possible manner to get rid of Callum Munro in the very first over itself. Markus Guptill though scored a 16-ball 38 along with captain Ken Williamson, scoring a 10-ball 20 to take their side to a tall total of 68/1. In reply, IND looked on course for a win till they lost Dhaven in the final over and fell short of the target by just five runs.

SA v AUS, Semi-final 2: AUS win by 16 runs

AUS who were asked to bat first, put up a strong total of 52/3 in the five overs. On the big day, it was Glen Maxwall who stood tall with an unbeaten 26 from just 14 balls. SA though, as it happens usually with them, crumbled under pressure and never got their innings going and could only post 36/2 to lose the game by 16 runs.

NZ v AUS, Final: NZ win by nine wickets

NZ turned the tables on AUS who opted to bat first in the big final. Armand Finch was out in the very first over and Daniel Warner followed him soon but Sam Smith anchored the innings to help AUS post 44/2 in the 5 overs. In the chase, it was Callum Munro who broke the back of the game with a stupendous 13-ball 28 to set up NZ's nine-wicket win. Finally, some silverware for NZ!
