The second day of the fifth week of the Virtual Cricket Tournament 2020 saw six matches being played on Wednesday, July 1. There were some memorable performances in the simulated reality league cricket tournament, and here, we look at what transpired through the day and bring you the summary of each virtual match.

SA vs PAK, Match 7: SA won by four runs

The day started with a narrow four-run win for SA over PAK in what was one of the high-scoring games of the day.

After electing to bat, SA posted 67/4 riding on the back of a late blitz by Darren Miller, who scored 23 off just nine balls. JP Dominic played his of 16 from six as SA went from 16/2 to 67/4 in five overs.

PAK made a decent start and at one point, looked well on course. But after failing to keep up with the asking run rate, they fell short of four runs.

NZ vs IND, Match 8: NZ won by 10 wickets

After a perfect outing on Day 1, IND fell to a 10-wicket defeat against a sturdy NZ unit.

After winning the toss and choosing to bat, IND scored 64/3 in five overs, with opener Rohan Sharma scoring 34 off 11 balls. NZ came in to bat and it took them just 3.5 overs to reach the target, with Callum Munro and Markus Guptill carrying the bat right till the end. The former scored 32 off 12 while the latter smashed 34 off 10.

AUS vs ENG, Match 9: ENG won by seven runs

ENG got the much-needed momentum in the second day of virtual cricket by defeating AUS by seven runs.

ENG were put in to bat by their opponents, with the likes of James Butler (20 off 10) and captain Ian Morgan (23 off 7) guiding their side to 67/2 in five overs. AUS made a thumping start, with openers Daniel Warner and Armand Finch stitching a 47-run partnership, but as the middle order collapsed, ENG restricted them to 60/4 to register a seven-run victory.

SA vs IND, Match 10: IND won by nine wickets

IND got back to winning ways in the 10th match of the simulated reality league cricket tournament, beating SA by nine wickets.

IND won the toss and sent SA to bat, and while they did post a decent total (67/2) in five overs, they fell to a sheer brilliance of Rohan Sharma, who smashed 42 off 16 balls, which included four boundaries and three sixes.

Shikhar Dhaven and Viraj Kohli played their part as IND registered a nine-wicket victory.

NZ vs ENG, Match 11: NZ won by 14 runs

NZ won their second successive game of the day, this time beating ENG by 14 runs.

ENG put NZ to bat first and the decision backfired as opener Callum Munro scored a 22-ball half-century, with his knock including eight fours and two sixes. Ross Tailor played a cameo at the end as NZ posted 69/3 in five overs.

ENG, despite losing an early wicket, got back on track, but could only manage 55/1 in five overs, losing the game by 14 runs.

AUS vs PAK, Match 12: AUS won by 30 runs

AUS registered the biggest victory of the day, beating PAK by 30 runs in the final e-cricket match of the second day.

AUS decided to bat after having won the toss, and like their previous game, openers Daniel Warner and Armand Finch gave their team a blistering start, with the former scoring 41 off 15. Sam Smith played his due part as they put 71/2 in five overs.

PAK, despite a steady start, fell to the bowling brilliance of Nelson Coulter-Nile, who picked two wickets in his over while conceding just eight runs. They were able to restrict PAK to just 41/3, winning the game by 30 runs.
