Tamil Nadu will play Himachal Pradesh in Vijay Hazare Trophy 2021-22 final at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Sunday, December 26 from 9 AM IST.
Both teams made it to the final on the back of contrasting results in the semi-finals. While Tamil Nadu edged past Saurashtra in the last-ball thriller to register a two-wicket victory, Himachal Pradesh comfortably beat Services by 77 runs.
Himachal Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, placed in Elite Group A and Group B respectively in the league stages, topped their group with 12 points each. In the quarterfinal, Tamil Nadu knocked out Karnataka by registering a 151-run win whereas Himachal Pradesh beat Uttar Pradesh by five wickets.
Since the inception of the tournament in 2002-03, Tamil Nadu have gone on to win the Vijay Hazare Trophy a record five times, the most by any team in the history of the tournament. On the other hand, Himachal Pradesh are set to feature in their first-ever final.
