The United States national cricket team will host Ireland in a historic two-match T20I series starting on Thursday, December 23.

Led by Andrew Balbirnie, the Irish side will become the first full member nation of the ICC to play against USA on American soil.

Both the T20I matches are scheduled to be held at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium in Florida.

Ahead of the significant series, the visitors have suffered a massive blow as four of its players and a member of the support staff have tested positive for Covid-19. Barry McCarthy, George Dockrell, Harry Tector, Gareth Delany and Gary Wilson have tested positive and have started 10-day in-room isolation.

“Several of our players have had their departures from Ireland delayed, but we are hopeful they can join the squad in Florida in a few days. Likewise, Assistant Coach Gary Wilson - who we believe may have received a false positive, couldn't depart with the main squad. He'll be re-tested again today and we hope will be cleared to travel shortly,” Cricket Ireland High-Performance Director Richard Holdsworth said.

After the T20Is, USA and Ireland will lock horns in a three-match ODI series starting December 26.

Meanwhile, the visitors are also scheduled to play against a USA Invitational XI on December 20 to warm up for the series.

On the other hand, left-arm spinner Vatsal Vaghela and wicket-keeper Rahul Jariwala have received their maiden senior team call-ups in USA's squads for the Ireland series.
