The Indian Under-19 cricket team clinched a record fifth Under-19 World Cup title when they beat England Under-19 in the Under-19 World Cup 2022 final on Saturday, February 5.

The Under-19 World Cup has been a platform to identify some of the top future talents for India, and they get further exposure to showcase their merits with the bat and ball in the Indian T20 League.

As tradition has it, some of the young cricketers like Ishan Kishan, Shubman Gill, Prithvi Shaw and most recently Ravi Bishnoi have shone in the Under-19 World Cup before going on to further propel their careers by attracting big bids in the Indian T20 League as part of the pathway to the senior Indian cricket team.

Several players from India’s triumphant Under-19 World Cup 2022 campaign will go under the hammer in the upcoming Indian T20 League auction 2022 and here we list out the top names who could attract major bids from franchises.

Raj Angad Bawa

Many teams will be involved in a tug-of-war for all-rounder Raj Angad Bawa, who recently broke Shikhar Dhawan’s 18-year record for the highest individual score at the Under-19 World Cup by an Indian.

The 19-year-old also scripted history when he became the first Indian men’s cricketer and the second bowler since Anwar Ali (2006) to bag a five-wicket haul in the final of an ICC event with his 5/31 against England.

Bawa, who ended the tournament with 252 runs and nine wickets, has a base price of Rs 20 lakh and will be one of the rare Indian pace all-rounders in the auction.

Vicky Ostwal

Vicky Ostwal finished as India’s highest wicket-taker at the Under-19 World Cup 2022 with 12 wickets. The young left-arm spinner played a match-winning role in India’s game against South Africa with 5/28, and ended the tournament with an economy rate of 3.63.

The six-foot plus Ostwal also shone for the India Under-19 in the recent Under-19 Asia Cup 2021 where he took six wickets in four games. A product of the Dilip Vengsarkar Academy, Vicky Ostwal could turn out to be India’s next spin sensation. The 19-year-old has a base price of Rs 20 lakh.

Angkrish Raghuvanshi

Youngster Angkrish Raghuvanshi is another big-hitting all-rounder to expect to attract major bids at the Indian T20 League 2022 auction.

The 16-year-old hit 278 runs in six Under-19 World Cup 2022 matches, including a 120-ball 144 against Uganda as India posted their second-highest total (405/5) in the tournament’s history.

Raghuvanshi can also contribute with the ball as he scalped two wickets in the Under-19 World Cup and franchises will know that his acquisition promises many years of service owing to his young age.

At the time of writing, Angkrish Raghuvanshi is among the eight players from the Under-19 World Cup team awaiting clearance from the BCCI to be added to the auction list.

Yash Dhull

Yash Dhull is likely to be the latest Under-19 World Cup-winning captain to make his way into the Indian T20 League.

The 19-year-old Delhi-born cricketer was in the limelight prior to the World Cup as he steered India to the Under-19 Asia Cup in December 2021.

Dhull is regarded as a composed batter at the crease and that was evident with his knock of 110 against Australia Under-19 in the Under-19 World Cup 2022 semi-final.

His exploits for Delhi in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy, 316 runs in eight matches including one hundred and three fifties, could further entice franchises to spend big on Yash Dhull who is listed with a base price of Rs 20 lakh.
