Thakur, Reddy struggle as England Lions dominate India A

On the 3rd day of the first unofficial Test match between India A and the England Lions, both Shardul Thakur and Nitish Kumar Reddy delivered underwhelming performances. All-rounder Thakur bowled 21 overs, conceding 90 runs and securing just one wicket. On the other hand, Reddy delivered 11 overs without taking a wicket and gave away 57 runs.
Their bowling speeds averaged between 75 mph (120 km/h) to 78 mph (125 km/h). However, this isn’t enough to corner the opposing team’s batsmen, which includes Tom Haines and Max Holden.
The England Lions capitalised on India A’s bowling struggles. Thakur and Reddy, who were expected to lead the seam attack as pace-bowling all-rounders, lacked both consistency and penetration. Their lack of breakthroughs allowed the English batters to dominate.
Despite being an unofficial Test, the match served as a way to assess player performance. With the unsatisfactory play that the two players showed, they slimmed their chances of getting into India’s national Test team.
