Unbeaten in their last four games, Surrey Royals take on Surrey Kings in the Jamaica T10 2022 final at Sabina Park in the wee hours of Friday, May 6. The match will start at 12:00 AM IST.
With an impressive seven wins in 10 matches, Surrey Royals finished the league stage of the competition on the top of the table with 14 points while Surrey Kings followed them on second with 13 points, thanks to an abandoned match against Middlesex Titans.
During the course, the two finalists also crossed paths in the league stage in the fifth match of the competition. Batting first, Surrey Royals scored 90/8 in 10 overs after failing to contain the collective brilliance of the Kings’ bowling attack.
With the bat, riding on the back of Kennar Lewis’ 14-ball 27 and Jermaine Blackwood’s 46 runs off just 17 balls, Surrey Kings achieved the target in a mere 5.1 overs to win the match by eight wickets. Since that defeat, Royals only lost two more games in the competition.
Between the two teams, only Leroy Lugg of Surrey Royals has scored more than 200 runs in the competition. As far as wickets are concerned, Royals’ Nicholson Gordon is currently the leading wicket-taker with 18 scalps in 10 matches
