A confident Star CC side take on Sprite Cricket Stars in the final match of the Qatar T10 Ramadan Cup 2022 at West End Park International Cricket Stadium in Doha on Friday, April 22. The match will start at 11:00 PM IST.
The 16-team tournament had Starr CC slotted in the Group C alongside Nihal XI CC, Legends CC and Pak Afghan CC. With two wins in three league stage matches, the team finished second to qualify for the quarter-final.
Interestingly, as many as three teams finished with four points in Group C, but only Legends CC and Star CC could qualify on the back of superior net run rate.
Sprite Cricket Stars, on the other hand, were in Group A alongside Phatom Doha, Galfar Al Misnad and Bangla Tigers. Like Star CC, Sprite Cricket Stars, too, finished with two wins out of three matches to qualify for the final eight.
Interestingly, Star CC scored the highest team total of the Qatar T10 Ramadan Cup 2022 season in their semi-final clash against Markhors XI. Riding on Ahamed Shafi’s 13-ball 43 and Kasim Choori’s efforts of 42 runs off 23 balls, the team posted 140/4 and won the tie by 47 runs.
Meanwhile, the highlight of Sprite Cricket Stars came in their semi-final clash against United Challengers. After having put to bat, Mohd Adnan wreaked havoc by scoring 75 runs in just 30 deliveries as his side posted 116/4 on board. Kannan Periyasamy took four wickets with the ball as Sprite Cricket Stars came out victorious by four runs.
