After clinching the ODI series 2-1, the Sri Lanka women's national cricket team will host New Zealand Women in a three-match T20I series starting on Saturday, July 8.

Led by captain Chamari Athapaththu, Sri Lanka Women created history by winning their first bilateral series against New Zealand Women in the recently-concluded 50-over series.

While the hosts defeated New Zealand Women by nine wickets (DLS method) in the first ODI, the visitors bounced back with a massive 111-run win in the second ODI to level the series 1-1.

Sri Lanka Women later rode on an all-round effort to win the final ODI by eight wickets (DLS method) in another rain-curtailed game to bag the historic series.

Sri Lanka captain Chamari Athapaththu led from the front as she smashed two match-winning hundreds in the ODI series. The 33-year-old southpaw amassed 248 runs in three matches at a strike rate of 151.22.

The hosts will aim to continue their winning run in the upcoming three-match T20I series.

Meanwhile, the New Zealand women's national cricket team will look to avenge their ODI series defeat in the three-match T20I series. The visitors will be once again led by captain Sophie Devine.

All three games in the T20I series will be played at P Sara Oval in Colombo.
