Southampton will take on Oval London in the final of The 100-ball League women’s competition 2021 at Lord’s Cricket Ground on Saturday, August 21. 

Under captain Anya Shrubsole, the Southampton women have been the most dominant team in the inaugural edition of the tournament. They stormed into the final after finishing as table-toppers in the eight-team competition. 

On the other hand, Oval London qualified for the summit clash after defeating Birmingham by 20 runs in the eliminator on Friday. Earlier in the group stage, the Dane Van Niekerk-led London had finished second in the points table with four wins, three defeats while one match ended with no result.

Southampton will bank on their highest run-getter Sophia Dunkley, who has amassed 244 runs in eight matches at a strike rate of 143.52. Meanwhile, Oval London will hope their swashbuckling opener Dane Van Niekerk can continue her impressive form in the final. The Proteas all-rounder has scored 233 runs in nine matches at an average of 46.60.

In the bowling department, London's Tash Farrant has been the leading wicket-taker in the competition, picking 18 wickets in nine matches at an economy of 6.52. For Southampton, Amanda-Jade Wellington has been the standout bowler, claiming 13 wickets in eight matches at an economy of 5.30.

Southampton will have a slight edge in the final, having defeated Oval London by 30 runs in the group stage.
