Southampton will look to get the better of Nottingham in the eliminator of 100-ball League men’s competition 2021 at The Oval in London on Friday, August 20.
Led by a very calm and composed James Vince, Southampton have registered five wins and two losses in their eight matches played so far, while one game ended in no result.
Nottingham, on the other hand, have produced some exciting cricket under the very unassuming Lewis Gregory. They have won five and lost three of their last eight matches until now.
The two sides met very early in the tournament when Nottingham romped to a dominating nine-wicket win over Southampton with Marchant de Lange taking a fifer.
Southampton, in fact, started off on the wrong foot in 100-ball League as they suffered back-to-back defeats at the beginning of the campaign. In contrast, Rockets began with a bang as they notched three consecutive wins and were briefly at the top of the table.
However, Nottingham ended up faltering in the middle phase of the tournament but did just about enough to make it to the eliminator.
Both sides are stacked with top performers who can change the course of a game at any given moment. Quinton de Kock can prove to be a real match-winner for Southampton while Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan has been in terrific form for the Rockets.
