After the recently-concluded tied three-match T20I series, the South Africa women's national cricket team will host Bangladesh in a three-match T20 international series starting on Saturday, December 16.

The ODI series is part of the ICC Women's Championship cycle 2022-25 which is being held to determine qualification for the Women's Cricket World Cup 2025 in India.

Ranked third in the ICC Women’s ODI rankings, South Africa have registered seven wins and two losses in the ongoing ICC Women's Championship. They are currently placed fourth on the standings with 14 points from nine games.

On the other hand, the Bangladesh women's national cricket team are eighth on the championship table with three wins from 12 matches. The world’s eighth-ranked ODI side Bangladesh Women have currently accumulated 11 points in the ICC Women's Championship 2022-25.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh Women won the first T20I against South Africa by 13 runs before rain played spoilsport in the second game. The hosts won the third and final T20I by eight wickets to level the three-match series 1-1.

South Africa Women have announced their 15-member ODI squad to be led by captain Laura Wolvaardt.

Star all-rounders Marizanne Kapp, Nadine de Klerk and fast bowler Ayabonga Khaka have been included in the ODI squad after missing the T20I series.

However, all-rounder Chloe Tryon is still unavailable for selection due to a groin injury.

Eliz-mari Marx and Meike De Ridder have received their maiden ODI call-up,

On the other hand, wicketkeeper-batter Nigar Sultana will once again lead Bangladesh Women in the three-match ODI series

All-rounder Lata Mondal has also been included in the ODI squad after being left out from the Pakistan series.

South Africa Women vs Bangladesh Women ODI head-to-head

South Africa Women hold a dominant head-to-head record against Bangladesh Women in one-day international cricket, winning 16 of the 18 matches that they have played so far. Bangladesh Women have registered just two ODI victories over the Proteas .

The last time these two sides met, South Africa Women beat Bangladesh Women by 32 runs during a group clash in the ICC Women's World Cup 2022 in Dunedin, New Zealand.
