Rwanda’s Kwibuka T20 tournament that was earlier slated for a June 4 start will now begin from June 6. The week-long tournament featuring six teams divided into two groups will have seven double-headers and ends on June 12.

Group A has Botswana, Rwanda and Uganda while Group B consists of Kenya, Namibia and Nigeria. The Kwibuka T20 will be accorded international status and will carry ICC ranking points for the teams. Tanzania are the defending champions however, they are not a part of the event this year.

Uganda have reportedly pulled out of the tournament due to the spread of COVID-19 cases in the bio-bubble. It remains to be seen if they are replaced by a new team or if their opponent gets a walkover.

The tournament is going to be held under strict COVID-19 protocols like social distancing, usage of masks, regular temperature checks and so on. All matches will be held at a single venue, the Gahanga International Cricket Stadium in capital Kigali.
