Rain forces draw in Lancashire vs Leicestershire final county clash

Lancashire (Lancs) and Leicestershire (Leics) ended their Rothesay County Championship Division Two match in a draw after rain cut their play short on day four at Emirates Old Trafford, Manchester. The match ran from April 18 to 21, 2025.
Leics dominated most of the four-day contest, with the final one powered by a first innings total of 491 for 8 declared. Peter Handscomb and Rehan Ahmed led the charge with superb centuries, 142 off 222 balls and 100 off 149, respectively.
In response, Lancs were bowled out for 263 during their first innings. Marcus Harris topped the scoreboard with 77 off 150, and George Balderson chipped in with 51 off 134 balls. However, it was Leics’s Tom Scriven who stood out with a fifer, taking 5 for 46 in 20 overs.
Lancs’ second innings was halted at 90 for 3 as rain limited the final day to only 24 overs. Josh Bohannon and Marcus Harris achieved an unbeaten run stand of 79, before both teams agreed to call it a draw with a minimum of eight overs left.
With this result, Leics claimed 15 points, while Lancs earned 11. The former remains the Division Two leader, while the latter faced their third straight draw in the 2025 season.
