Samit Dravid, the elder son of India legend, Rahul Dravid, scored a double-century for the Vice-President’s XI, the team he captains, in an U-14 inter-zonal match in Karnataka.

Samit achieved the milestone in the first innings against Dharwad Zone, scoring 201 off 250 balls, an innings in which he hit 22 boundaries. His hunger for runs did not end there though, a trait he no doubt picked up from his father, as he followed it up with 94 in the second innings.

To add to that, he also picked three wickets while giving away just 26 runs with his bowling. His superb performance did not give him team victory though, with the match ending in a draw eventually.

With such a famous last name, the pressure on Samit is immense no doubt but he seems to cope with it well, going by recent evidence. He had made waves in 2015 when he scored three consecutive fifties for his school at the U-12 level in 2015, all of them resulting in wins, several media reports stated.

Samit had also played an innings of 150 for his school last year, which gave them a big victory. Samit is Rahul Dravid’s elder son, and was born in 2005. His brother, Anvay, is four years younger to him.

Rahul Dravid meanwhile is currently serving as the head of the National Cricket Academy, a post he assumed after a bit of back and forth, which included a trip to the BCCI Ethics officer’s desk, after a conflict of interest had emerged with his stint as India A coach.

However, he was cleared of all that, and his big task now is to work with BCCI president and his former captain and teammate, Sourav Ganguly to further the importance of the NCA. The two had met in October to discuss the roadmap of the future.
