After beating Australia, the Sri Lanka cricket team will now host Pakistan for a two Test-match. The first Test starts on Saturday, July 16 while the second Test ends on Thursday, July 28.

The home team will be high on confidence after beating Australia by a massive margin of an innings and 39 runs in the second Test match that ended on July 12.

Incidentally, Pakistan’s last Test match was also against Australia, when they hosted the Aussies at home for the first time since 1998. While the first two matches resulted in draws, Australia won the third match by 115 runs.

Pakistan’s tour of Sri Lanka and Pakistan was also supposed to have an ODI series, but the limited-overs affair has been cancelled due to the ongoing turmoil in the island nation.

Prior to the two-match series, Pakistan played Sri Lanka Cricket XI in a three-day warm-up match at the Colts Cricket Club Ground, Colombo. While the match ended in a draw, here’s how it panned out. Pakistan were all out for 323 in their first innings and Sri Lanka Cricket XI scored 375/8 in response before declaring.

Pakistan scored 178/2 in their second innings before the designated three days came to an end.

Following their win over Australia in the last Test, Sri Lanka are now in the third position on the World Test Championship 2021-23 table with a win percentage of 54.17, behind second-placed Australia and leaders South Africa.

Pakistan are one spot below Sri Lanka at fourth with a win percentage of 52.38. Both teams are very much in contention for a World Test Championship Final spot in 2023.
