The Pakistan cricket team will welcome England for a three-match Test series beginning on December 1. Rawalpindi, Multan and Karachi will be hosting these three matches.

Pakistan, who had hosted Australia earlier in a three-match Test series, will welcome England for the first time in 17 years for a battle in the longest format.

This is England’s ninth Test tour of Pakistan. The first time an English Test team visited Pakistan was in 1961/62 when the tourists emerged victorious 1-0 in a three-match series.

Both these sides had played out cricket’s first-ever seven-match T20I series prior to the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 in Pakistan and will resume the tour with these three Tests.

There are some accounts to settle for the hosts in this Test series after the defeat in the final of the T20 World Cup at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. England had won the summit clash by five wickets to clinch their second T20 world title. However, the focus now shifts to the game’s longest format.

Pakistan are aiming to enter the race for the World Test Championship final (51.85 points percentage) and are currently fifth on the table. England find themselves out of the reckoning for now, with a points percentage of 38.6.

A big win in this series can propel them close to South Africa, who currently occupy the second spot. The World Test Championship final for the 2021-23 cycle will be played from March 27 to March 31.
