West Indies’ T20I series against Pakistan reduced to four games - watch live streaming in India

West Indies and Pakistan will play a revised four-match T20I series starting July 28 as part of the Asian team’s tour of the Caribbean, Cricket West Indies (CWI) announced on Sunday.  

One T20I had to be cancelled from the tour on account of COVID-19 complications that had engulfed hosts West Indies in their previous ODI series against Australia. 

A non-playing staff member in the West Indies camp tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday, leading to the suspension of the second ODI against Australia at the Kensington Oval in Barbados.

The postponement of the second ODI against Australia had a knock on effect on the schedule of the Pakistan series that prompted the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and CWI to strike off one T20I.

The T20I series between West Indies and Pakistan will now start on July 28 and feature four 20-over matches instead of the originally planned five. The two teams will also compete in two Tests as part of the 2021-23 World Test Championship (WTC).

CWI president Ricky Skerritt said, "Together with the PCB, CWI have examined various scenarios, and we jointly agreed that the best solution in the present circumstances is to cancel the first T20I and play a four-match T20I series starting on Wednesday and keep the rest of the tour schedule unchanged."

The 20-over series will be an opportunity for both West Indies and Pakistan to test their T20I strength before the T20 World Cup kicks off in the UAE from October 17.
