The sixth edition of the Pakistan Super League, which was suspended midway in March owing to rise in coronavirus cases among players and staff, and was rescheduled for June 1 will finally kickstart from June 9, Wednesday, with the entire tournament shifted to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Earlier, the tournament had finished with just 20 matches before three COVID-19 cases were reported amongst players and staff that included Quetta GladiatorsTom Banton and Karachi Kings coach Kamran Khan.

Before the PSL was suspended in May, the points table had Karachi Kings leading with three wins from five games. Apart from Karachi Kings, Peshawar Zalmi, Multan Sultans, and Quetta Gladiators had played 5 games each while Islamabad United and Lahore Qalandars had played four games each.

As per the new schedule, there will be a total of six double-headers that also includes a qualifier and an eliminator. The final will take place on June 24.

Pakistan Cricket Board CEO Wasim Khan said, "Since its inception in 2016, the HBL PSL has embraced and overcome numerous challenge, emerging as a stronger and competitive league year-on-year."

The delayed start will give the teams ample time to gear up and prepare for the biggest prize on offer in Pakistan cricket.
