After a five-match T20I series, the Pakistan national cricket team will now square off against New Zealand in an ODI series, starting on April 27.
The two sides already faced off in a three-match ODI series in Pakistan earlier this year and they are set to clash for a five-match series again.
New Zealand won the earlier 50-over series against Pakistan 2-1 in January and they will be eager to get the better of their hosts again.
The Kiwis are set to be led by Tom Latham, while Pakistan will be captained by Babar Azam as the host look to avenge their ODI series loss from earlier this year.
Needless to say, New Zealand will draw from its experience of beating Pakistan in the hosts’ own backyard earlier this year. Furthermore, Saqlain Mushtaq - New Zealand’s current assistant coach and Pakistan’s former head coach - will have insightful inputs about his ex-team for the Kiwis to bank on.
As far as the head-to-head between the sides is concerned, Pakistan holds a slender edge. Pakistan has won 56 times, while New Zealand has emerged triumphant on 50 occasions. Three matches between these teams ended in no result and there was also a tie.
The first two matches of this series will be played in Rawalpindi, while the final three games will be held in Karachi.
